MarketWatch.com - MarketPulse LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- DirecTV late Monday said in statement that the Weather Channel has removed itself from its service, and that satellite-TV customers want weather news and information that s free from reality-show clutter. Earlier, the Weather Channel said DirecTV dropped its programming. The Wall Street Journal, citing a person familiar with the matter, reported that DirecTV has been seeking to cut the fees it pays to carry the Weather Channel by 20%. DirecTV didn t mention a fee dispute in its statement. Most consumers don t want to watch a weather-information channel with a forecast of a 40% chance of reality TV, said DirecTV. So with that in mind, we are in the process of discussing an agreement to return the network to our line-up at the right value for our customers.
